I just came to say hello.

Hello all you (few) people who are reading this blog. I realise that I have been neglecting this site for the last couple of weeks and as such I am a bit behind with this “post a week” challenge that I am supposed to be doing on here. To be honest, I haven’t really been in the mood to post anything recently, for a variety of reasons. I won’t go into them on here but if you have seen my twitter feed recently you might have some idea why.  The few occasions when I have wanted to put something on here I have scrapped the post either halfway through or just before I was about to post it. Sometimes it was because I had struggled to get the words down properly or I just thought the entire post was inappropriate or total drivel.

I am starting to wonder whether it is worth carrying on with this blog. I look back on some of the things that I have written recently and just wonder why I bothered.  Sometimes I wonder whether I should even bother continuing to write stuff on any of the blogs or sites that I am a part of.  In relation to other people, I have nothing interesting or of note to write about. Hell, I’m not interesting either.I find it difficult to actually focus on anything at the moment with regard to my blogging or writing in general. I fear that my heart isn’t in it as much as it used to be . I suppose I’m just having another one of my “downer” moments, but part of me does wonder whether I should just pack it all in and stop trying to achieve something that I never will in a million years (No, not having hundreds of visitors to my blog, however that would be nice).

On a lighter note, do you notice that purple banner under the “post a week” badge? Well, clicking on it will take you to a web page where you can download Kaiser Chiefs’ new album The Future is Medieval  put together by yours truly.  You can make your own on the band’s official website too, if you fancy it. That’s if you like the Kaiser Chiefs, of course.

Here’s my (brief) thoughts on this one:

    1) Your blog is your blog. What I mean by that is that you shouldn’t think about it in terms of others – how many visits you get, whether people like your posts etc. If you don’t want to carry on with it – then don’t. If you do – then do.

“In relation to other people, I have nothing interesting or of note to write about.” is not a sentence I’m keen on, to be honest, because people write blogs for all sorts of reasons. It shouldn’t matter if the content isn’t interesting to others – it’s their choice if they want to read it or not.

    2) I’ve never been a fan of this “Post A Week” challenge and it’s not something I’d ever do. Speaking from my own experiences, there are times when I sit down to my blog and I’m completely clueless – I got nothing. Other times, I’m bouncing off the walls because I have about 5 ideas in my head and I know I can only write one at a time. “Post A Week” is awfully constrictive. My suggestion would be to ditch that, and just go with whatever schedule you want to run with. Then you don’t feel under any obligations.

    3) Don’t worry too much about….oh my Christ, I’ve just seen a video with me in it. Ick. Where was I? Oh, I forget. No matter.

The blog is for you and no one else. If someone reads it? well that’s just gravy. Use it to do like you did today…just sound off, let out the frustration, talk about your day…whatever! Don’t put pressure on yourself to make the blog anything other than what it is…a way for you to write about anything or everything at all. Enjoy it.
