Nearly every Thursday my social media feed is full of #throwbackthursday (or #tbt) posts in which people post a photo or some other memorable thing from the past. It’s interesting to see people share “old things” and memories that bring up good times for them a lot of the time, however sometimes there are throwbacks that you wish people didn’t share, like reminding us of old trends, or songs that we thought were great at the time.
I’ve tried to engage with the #TBT trend sometimes, the easiest way being through looking through Timehop for any tweet or photo that is worth sharing. I quickly notice that there isn’t really anything that I’d like to share with the wider users of the internet a lot of the time. As great as things like Timehop are, sometimes I wonder if it’s better to let those tweets, FB statuses or instagram photos you did in the past stay in the past, along with those memories of certain 90s songs, shellsuits and every other thing that makes you cringe the moment you hear any reference to it. Give me your throwbacks if you want, but I hope you don’t mind if I throw a lot of them back at you.
